Hello, fellow book friends! Today, I’m deviating from our usual format to bring you another Book Sins post. You can find the other here.
WARNING: HERE BE SPOILERS, MEAN WORDS, AND PISSY SARAH
SUMMARY
Day 1: Julia Donnelly eggs my house my first night back in Star Lake, and that’s how I know everyone still remembers everything—how I destroyed my relationship with Patrick the night everything happened with his brother, Gabe. How I wrecked their whole family. Now I’m serving out my summer like a jail sentence: Just ninety-nine days till I can leave for college, and be done.
Day 4: A nasty note on my windshield makes it clear Julia isn’t finished. I’m expecting a fight when someone taps me on the shoulder, but it’s just Gabe, home from college and actually happy to see me. “For what it’s worth, Molly Barlow,” he says, “I’m really glad you’re back.”
Day 12: Gabe got me to come to this party, and I’m actually having fun. I think he’s about to kiss me—and that’s when I see Patrick. My Patrick, who’s supposed to be clear across the country. My Patrick, who’s never going to forgive me.
Now, here are my casting choices for the main players in this book.
Explanation
Molly
LORD OH LORD, where do I start with this girl? I actually started out liking her, but then that was destroyed. Basically, Molly cheated on her boyfriend, with his brother. And then her mom wrote a book on it (more on that later). So when shit hits the fan, she runs away for a year and comes back, basically a pariah. She starts to redeem herself (honestly, I really dislike cheaters, so I was surprised I was actually attached to her. BUT THEN SHE HAS TO GO AND FUDGE SHIT UP. I actually swore while reading this, fyi.
She cheated on Patrick. With Gabe. And when we meet Gabe, they actually have something. He’s a GREAT, PERFECT, PERSON. He’s completely aware of the double standards (Molly is called a slut and harassed while he gets off scot-free). He’s funny, they have chemistry and I SHIP IT. I’m like, redemption arc, here we go!
For some reason, completely unbeknownst to moi, she still ???? Patrick. (Note my use of question marks. I don’t even know what she was feeling). She never really really liked him (they were that couple that every one thought would eventually get together) but she still keeps on thinking of him. Even though he has a girlfriend – and even she’s completely aware of how wrong what she’s thinking is.
Now, I don’t mind her thoughts… but when they were translated to action, I lost my frickin’ mind. By this point, she’s in a relationship with Gabe and is slowly redeeming herself in her community.
SHE CHEATED ON DUMBER WITH DUMB, THEN CHEATED ON DUMB WITH DUMBER.
AND IT’S HER MOM’S FAULT.
Like, YA parents, get your shit together. Your daughter’s love life is not a romance novel. Not in any way, sort or form. Dear Molly’s mom, if you hadn’t pulled that dumb-ass stunt, this book wouldn’t exist, so I’m blaming you.
Basically, redemption died, the Donnelly family motto is Hos before Bros, the best character was Julia (the bro’s sister and a class-A bi-atch ), and that mother sucked. Best of all, Molly ended up with neither brother, continued her terrible habits and wasted 2 hours of my life. Thank the lord I didn’t buy it.

So confused. Did she just double cheat?? How is this even possible??
And then what is all this shit about the Mum writing about her daughters life?? Is this necessary?? OR IS THIS JUST HERE TO CONFUSE ME MORE??
WTF.
I was about to not read this post coz spoilers but then saw the 1/5 and went ah stuff it, if it’s that bad then I’m not going to read it anyway.
So confused.

Apparently the mom’s a novelist, and took her daughter’s love life and put it into a bestseller. In a intervew, she said it was based off her kid’s life, so the whole town found out.
I would have given it 0 stars, but I actually liked the beginning.

Um. This love story in this book is the weirdest thing I have ever seen. Quantum mechanics is easier (probably. I dunno. I haven’t done quantum mechanics but surely it can’t be this confusing.)

I have done the intro to Quantum Mechanics. I can confirm, it’s easier. And less touchy, too XD

hahaha oh my goodness this post is unbelievably awesome!!! I had so much fun reading this post!!! I loved that you cast Two-Face as Molly!!! And Dumber and Dumber as the brothers!!! Maleficent totally works- especially the version from the recent movie- cos I found Julia pretty sympathetic. haha and the mean girl’s mum for Molly’s mum- genius!! Loved your rant- it was epic and so accurate! And thanks for the mention!!
