This or That Tag

This or that? We’ll find out in this super heated debate of a tag! 🙂

The Rules:

One: Reading on the couch or on the bed?

F: WHAT – this is difficult! I do both! In bed though, because you’re all nice and cozy…

S: I prefer my couch, but if I’m desperate I use my bed. I like something to lean on 😉tumblr_nluiza0dse1qf9mevo1_500

Two: Male main character or female main character?

F: Hm does it matter? As long as they’re good, then I’m good. No real preference. But I feel like there is an abundance of female main characters (not an abundance of Katherines… gotcha!) as narrators so maybe more male voiced narrators would be a good switch up? Or maybe I’m just an inexperienced reader.

S: It depends. I HATE the male and female characters that ONLY think about sex (like goddamn, get your mind out of her boobs/their ass/his abs/her legs for a moment and further the plot!) I especially dislike it when it’s in male narrators because I’m not interested XD That being said, I have seen an increase in good male narrators lately (or I’m better at picking books 😛 )

Three: Sweet snacks or salty snacks when reading?

F: SALTY. I CRAVE SALT. At restaurants (because I’m like a kid), I’d shake some salt on my hand and eat it. Maybe I shouldn’t have admitted that. I assure you, I have semi-table manners!! DISCLAIMER: I only do it when no one’s watching. Well, when I think no one’s watching. I love popcorn, pretzels, and the like so basically I’m a porcupine. (They crave salt).

S: Snacking while reading is a sure way to get me looking like this:tumblr_inline_o10q8ulb6j1srzdkf_500

Because I read ALL the time. So I prefer not to snack while eating, and if by any chance I do snack, it’s fruits and veggies – so no ‘salt’/’sugar’, really.

(F: * Rolls eyes * WOWWWWWWWWW GET OUT. You’re way too healthy for this. But I’m kind of impressed.)

Four: Trilogies or quartets?

F: Trilogies. They’re a nice beginning, middle, and end type of stories. Generally not too many overly stretched fluffy filler parts and with only three books (the last one being the conclusion) there aren’t that many cliffhanger endings either!! But I also like quartets. * Scrunches up face and exclaims “WHAT KIND OF QUESTION IS TH- I’m fine, don’t worry about me. Really.” *

S: I don’t care, honestly. If it’s good, it’s great, but if it sucks, no amount of books after the first one can save it. Though, my favourite quartet is The Lunar Chronicles!

Five: First person point of view or third person point of view?

F: Ooh… it depends on how the author writes it. Some, like The Wrath and the Dawn and A Darker Shade of Magic, is written in third person so epically that I don’t even notice and I relate just the same! Frankly, I’ve been getting a bit exhausted of first person books… I used to believe that all novels had Table of Contents and were third person. I don’t have a main preference but if it’s written well, then I’m sticking with third person.

S: Again, anything goes. If it’s done well, chances are I won’t even notice 😀

(F: Dang it, Sarah. The POINT of this tag is to CHOOSE SOMETHING! It’s like, “This or that?” She’s like, “Doesn’t matter”. I mean, then this would be like a broken pencil. There’d be no point! Also, I should POINT out that this is such a classic joke I’ve heard so don’t worry, I didn’t spend 19.38 years of my life trying to think of that one.)

Six: Reading at night or in the morning?

F: Smack dab in the middle of the day, losers! Nah, it’s more like morning. I’m a morning person trapped in the darned schedule of a night owl. I just feel entirely happier and more alive if I’m up and awake first thing in the morning just reading. Back when I was seven or eight and  finished a book every single day, I’d used to wake up at 7am in the mornings before anyone was awake just to sit on the armchair and read for an hour before breakfast. Now, I sleep until 9 and it’s still not enough.

S: I have no time to read in the mornings… so I choose secret option C… IN CLASS XD

(F: * Rolls eyes for the millionth time * Seriously guys. What type of alien is Sarah?! I can’t seem to find it in my UFO field guide books. But honestly, someone better give her some kudos because she reads in class while the teacher is talking, doesn’t get caught, AND still achieves those marks that everyone envies. I’m literally trying my hardest to understand the teacher but all their words just fly right over my head in class.)

Seven: Libraries or bookstores?

F: Well, I borrow all my books so… libraries. Plus, it’s free! Also, I don’t have any space at home and I’m running low on the ka-ching. XD EXCEPT my library fine is $12 because I’m a slow reader. I actually received a $20 giftcard to a bookstore so now I’m saving it to hopefully use it for that special book.

S: Libraries. If I had bought all the books I’ve read, that would total over a $100 000 USD (and that’s even more in CND dollars). I would not be able to survive without a library near me.

Eight: Books that make you laugh or make you cry?

F: Books that make me LAUGH, of course! I love it when I get to laugh out loud because of a book. It makes me happy just thinking about them. 😀 Also, when I read something super witty, I automatically give a mental props to the author just to be like, “NOW we’re talking”.

S: Laugh! So I can giggle like this:

muj4vi

Nine: Black book covers or white book covers?

F: White. It’s a fresh and clean look. Black is more… not emo or necessarily sinister but it’s not my type. As much. Actually both could be good, it depends on how you’re doing it.

S: Does it look nice? If so, I don’t care what the colour is XD

(F: Alright, it’s true that it doesn’t matter as much for this one but… JUST CHOOSE ONE LADY! I’m exhausted from your antics. -_- )

Ten: Character driven or plot driven stories?

F: Plot driven! To be honest, even if the character sucked but the plot was AMAZING, I would’ve still liked it. If it was the other way around, I might have still been bored. I just crave the action, you get me? Though both are equally important, I can get over a few bad characters but I live for the original action-y plots. I know some people may be thinking, “NO WAY, characters are the most important part of books!!” and they’re probably also already PLOTting my death.

If we applied this question to real life, however, I would flip it. The person would make the story and not the other way around. So even if life is boring, someone with an interesting personality could transform everything that comes into contact with them into something fun. Am I making any sense? I’m not sure. I think I am though. Actually, both are equally important. Nevermind. (I just wasted  a minute of your life AND I’m a hypocrite because I’m not choosing either option. Whoops. XD)

S: Usually plot driven, like Faith said. But, I’m slowly learning to appreciate character driven books. Often, it depends on my mood.

Questions (via Sarah)

(F: I think the questions are technically a set group of questions but you could choose to do either sets or both!)

Girl villains or guy villains?

Katniss should have ended up with… Peeta or Gale?

Who would win a fight between Queen Levana and Voldemort?

Who did you hate more: Umbridge or Voldemort?

Cats or goats?

Pirates or Ninjas?

Fantasy or Science fiction?

TV or Movies?

Sarah or Faith? (Answer carefully, mwahaha)

(F: Woah there, this question is going to create some TENSION. 😉 )

And the most important question of all:
PANCAKES or waffles? (Answer verrrrry carefully, guys XD )

(F: Remember: You’re on the edge of a cliff here.)

AHAHAHA this is HILARIOUS GUYS. but seriously speaking here, HOW DO YOU READ IN CLASS. I’ll admit, I stay on the goodie side of the line so I’m probably just scared to take the risk but HOW?! The envy runs deep, it runs deep.

I LOVE this! Faith’s long posts full of depth and description to Sarah’s short, sometimes-non-choosing answers XD I mean look at that last answer – Two paragraphs to two sentences. YOU GUYS THE LOVE IS GROWING YOU GUYS ARE SO AWESOME.

Thanks for the tag! BUT I MEAN LOOK AT THE QUESTIONS, HOW COULD YOU?! My brain is going to die very very hard while I’m doing this tag. How do I write the post without dying 😛 Maybe I’ll choose Sarah’s smart tactic. BOTH. BAHAHA. Damn, Sarah or Faith? I CANT DO IT. I will be doing this tag very soon 🙂 Thanks again for the tag (the mind slaughter)!

😀 Basically I open a book in the middle of the lesson and tune out. I actually am a good girl, ahem XD Jokes. I tune into the lesson, or I do my work ahead of time, so I can read during class. It gets to the point where all the teachers are yelling at my classmates to put away their phones, but in the front row I have like a stack of books in front of me XD God bless all the devices I don’t have. In middle school, teachers used to yell at me, but now they thank their stars that I’m not on Instagram 😛
MUAHAHAHAHA I CAN TEACH YOU MY WAYS

WOW FIRST PAUL (@theGalaxialWord) and now you! 😥 I’M SORRY I’M NOT VERBOSE 😀 I can’t help that I have a filter compared to Faith glares at her
Admittedly, I did that post at like 2AM, so I may or may not have given up. I’m glad you enjoy our juxtaposition (my English teacher would be proud XD )

Yesssss, be verrrrrrry careful. Those questions are booby-trapped… you walk among 2 ginormous book-blogging landmines. We all know who you prefer more, though. Sarah, am I right? cracks knuckles You could follow my example and put both (although Faith will hack you and comment on our inability to choose XD ) Or you could say neither and detonate both of us 🙂

Enjoy trails off into maniacal laughter skips off into the I created 😀

Aha the front of the class, reading? WOW that is professional skill right there – let us all bow down. But really, I am way too much of a chicken to be able to even read a sentence. Every page I would turn would result in me anxiously looking up the teacher. HOW?! Oh dear Sarah, my newfound respect has blossomed for you.

BUT DON’T APOLOGISE – your un-verbose-less-ness is completely loved here on this side of the line. Its hilarious and so is Faith’s precious reactions to them XD Fun fact: I suck at english so I had to search up juxtaposition (my English teacher would be so proud 😛 ) But YES it is very enjoyed right here!

Oh those bombs will explode, I’m just trying to figure out how to be the most safe. I MEAN REALLY GUYS, you’re just really in it for the torture, aren’t you 😉 The choices frighten me deeply. runs far far away

I know! I think it’s the most badass thing I’ve done 😛 NEWFOUND RESPECT? Well I never… XD XD XD

Haha, though sometimes I get the feeling that Faith would like nothing more than to whack me through the screen. IRL I’m a lot louder and talkative… it’s like the opposite for most people! Score 1 for English class, and 0 for Hirae and Sarah.

We are completely in it for the pain. I think we should change our blog name to SADistic Reads XD

I forgot to tell you guys my name! Aha, it’s Yarravy 🙂 blushes hello there guys. I don’t know how I forgot XD

Well damn, a definite score for Faith, both Sarah and I need to step up our badassery. The scariest thing I’ve probably ever done in school is make faces to friends in class. I know, badass.

1 vote to SADistic Reads, it’s a lot more honest and well, it has that cute little ring to it 😉

WOWWWWWWW HELLO 😀 Nice to meetcha, Yarravy! If you don’t mind me asking, what does it mean? And where’s it from? 🙂

We shall create badassery workshops and go on a badassery retreat to attempt to match up with Faith XD Haha, I do that with my friend… we can literally read each others minds, it’s that freaky 😛

yup, that creepy, slightly unhinged ring XD

I have no idea what my name means XD I’ve tried the search up but… NOTHING. I believe that my name is Australian? There’s actually a place called Yarraville here so thats pretty cool 🙂

Yes, we definitely need to get our badass on check. Too many times has it abandoned me, comeback-less and scared – well no more. FAITH, WE SHALL BADASS YOUR BADASSERY. But until then, I bow down to you, oh wise badass one.

    (ಥಥ) (ಥಥ) (ಥಥ) (ಥಥ) (ಥ_ಥ)

    ANYWAY. LET’S GO AGAIN.

SO. I discovered the difference between Faith and Sarah… Faith likes to * describe her actions like this * whereas Sarah generally just comments all out text. So if you want to trick me, then just * do this *.
    (☞゚ヮ゚)☞ ☜(゚ヮ゚☜)

I LOVE THESE ANSWERS SO MUCH THANKS SO MUCH FOR TAGGING. I will TRY to get around to it BUT I AM SUCH A LAZY PIECE OF SHIT YOU PROBABLY WON’T SEE IT UNTIL LIKE THREE MONTHS TIME * runs off cackling into the distance * (See I * do it * too)

I GET YO PAIN. THAT’S ME. Then realises that there’s no more hair to pull from all the rage-worthy things has happened. *

      • What difference? I don’t see no difference. Watchu talkin’ about?? Pftt I don’t see it. *
YOU’RE WELCOME FOR THE TAG. Pfffffft get yo lazy face up and back here to do the stupid tag. JUST DO IT! (Sorry, I had to. It was an open opportunity.) ಠ⌣ಠ
( ͡°( ͡° ͜ʖ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)ʖ ͡°) ͡°) (Now I have to put the longer emojis on the next line for the same fear. * Whispers: “It’s all your fault.” Slides out bomb from pocket but realises once again in all of her stupidity that it’s a firecracker. It’s ok, she was never that crazy anyway. Yet. *)
